Individual Psychotherapy
I provide therapy to those (aged 18 and above) who are eager to take active steps to live a more meaningful and joyful life. One of the best indicators of therapeutic success is the relationship between patient and therapist. Finding the right therapist-match is essential. Research has shown that a solid therapeutic alliance is one of the key factors in enhancing positive treatment outcome. My patients comes from a diverse range of ages, backgrounds, histories, beliefs and treatment needs. I am eager and grateful to work with anyone ready to improve their lives and live skillfully.

My Speciality Clinical Areas:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • self-harm behaviors

  • relationship difficulties

  • adjustment / life transitions

  • eating & body image issues

  • borderline personality disorder

  • emotional vulnerability / dysregulation

Process:
The first step is to meet for an intake evaluation to see if we will be a good fit to work together. During the intake we will have a conversation about your presenting concerns and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together we will decide if we will work together. Dependent upon your needs, individual psychotherapy can be short-term (1-20 sessions) or long-term.  Treatment typically consists of a once-weekly or bi-weekly sessions.

Fees:
Intakes and sessions are 45-minutes and billed commensurate with the rate of those with complementary qualifications, credentials and years of experience; longer sessions are pro-rated and billed accordingly. Full payment of fees are due at the time of each intake/session.

Insurance:
I am an out-of-network clinician and accept all insurance (out-of-network) except for managed care.

Contact your insurance company to inquire about your policy’s coverage for mental health services. Ask them: “How much does my policy cover for an out of network provider with a code of 90834, once I have met my deductible?” This will then give you a sense of how much you will be reimbursed directly from your insurance.

I am in-network only with the Duke University student insurance plan. Duke students with this specific insurance are responsible for their annual deductible and copay per session.

Cancellation / Missed Appointments:
An appointment represents time reserved personally for you. Cancellation and/or rescheduling of appointments must be done 24 hours in advance or the full fee will be charged for the session. Insurance cannot be billed for a missed or late appointment, so you will be responsible for the entire charge of the reserved time. The reason this policy is in place is to give me an opportunity to fill the slot you have reserved/cancelled with another patient who is available and in need of an appointment.
